Wine Club Notes

Vines that Bind updates.
If this is your first time here, welcome to the OIC Wine Club: a cozy and exclusive corner of the Osteria IL Centro website where great wine is the topic and wine lovers are the distinguished guests. If you’re here, it means you’re also now a Member of the OIC Wine Club. Welcome!

We were recently awarded a 20th consecutive Wine Spectator “Best of Award of Excellence” accolade! And, just for fun, we've asked several notable OIC customers and other friends of the restaurant to pick one of their favorite bottles from the OIC Reserve Wine list. You can check out the list by clicking here.

One practical note: From now on, when you order bottles of wine at Osteria IL Centro, be certain to mention to your server that you're a Wine Club Member. We’ll keep track of your tastes and preferences and, from time to time, send you special notices on wines we think you might enjoy – and some special surprise rewards (membership really does have its privileges!).

Bookmark this page and come back often for event information, videos, package specials – and to peruse “Gregg’s List,” the OIC Wine Club’s up-to-the-minute list of limited availability bottle specials (we add bottles regularly, so check back often).

See you at Osteria IL Centro!

Gregg's List

The Perfect Gifts - To Go!
If you haven't had a chance to browse our "Gregg's List" - discounted bottles and cases of wine at closeout pricing - now is the time. We've just added two wines to the list - one sweet and one savory. Time to stock up for the beautiful months ahead!

J Vineyards and Winery | 2015 Pinot Noir | $19 btl | $183 case (20% off)

Available to OIC Wine club members to take home at $19 a bottle – or save 20% more when you purchase by the case. This savory Pinot Noir offers notes of exotic spice, cherry preserves and black tea. Boasts flavors of spicy black pepper, cola and plum.

Winemaking Notes:

"The grapes for this Pinot Noir were sourced from the best regions in California to grow the grape: Monterey, Sonoma and Santa Barbara counties. We harvested whole grape clusters at 24.5 Brix before we de-stemmed and delivered them to stainless steel fermentation tanks. Following a five-day cold soak, the must fermented for seven to ten days, receiving regular punch-downs tailored to each fermenter lot. Once dry, the wine was drained to tank and barrel to undergo malolactic fermentation before aging on a combination of French and American oak. Blending took place in June with a special focus on maximizing the unique stylistic contributions of lots from each county."

An excellent choice with roasted leg of lamb or any flavorful and hearty meal.

Fleur de Mer | 2016 Côtes de Provence Rosé | $16 btl | $154 case (20% off)

Available to OIC Wine Club members to take home for just $16 a bottle – or save 20% more when you purchase a case. A fragrant bouquet plus flavors of watermelon, cherry, subtle citrus, peach, lavender and Mediterranean herbs.

Winemaking Notes:

"Grapes for Fleur de Mer are grown in the “golden triangle” at the heart of the A.O.C. Côtes de Provence — a region where growers focus almost exclusively on Rosé wines. The region’s deep- rooted vineyards plunge below the red clay soils and limestone pebbles to find water, resulting in naturally low yields and small, intensely-flavored berries. At times, the cool and dry le Mistral winds sweep across the vineyards, helping fruit retain the concentrated flavors and fresh acidity of classic Provençal Rosé."

The perfect bottle for relaxing and taking in the colors and weather of spring and summer.

Whether you're planning a dinner party or hosting a bbq, or looking for a nice gift, be sure to check out Gregg's List for your next wine purchase.

Top selects from the OIC Reserve List from The Man who knows wine.

Doug Frost is a Kansas City author who writes and lectures about wine, beer and spirits. In 1991 he passed the rigorous Master Sommelier examination and two years later became America’s eighth Master of Wine. He was the second person in history to complete both exams, and almost two decades later he is still one of only three people in the world to have achieved both these remarkable distinctions.

We asked Mr. Frost to examine the Osteria IL Centro Reserve wine list and pick his top selections based on taste and value – and we think you’ll really enjoy his selections.

Doug picked ten great bottles already.

Here's another:

Doug Frost Reserve List Selections

    • Cims de Porrera Classic Priorat 2001
The opportunity to have properly aged Priorat is unusual; it’s a region that has only gained fame since the early 2000s and few were buying the wines then. The 2001 vintage easily represents one of the best vintages the region has ever produced and Cims de Porrera offers a solid depiction of Priorat's over-the-top intensity.

Explore one of the OIC Reserve List bottles soon. With Mr. Frost’s considered endorsement, they won’t last long!

Video interviews with our OIC Wine Club Members about our favorite topic: Wine!

Osteria IL Centro created the “My Favorite Bottle” video series to introduce the OIC Wine Club Members to other Members. Watch a video, learn a little about the bottle tasted and a little more about the Club Member interviewed. Hosted by J.P. Gilmore of Vintegrity Wines and Shelly Hall from Glazers.

Know an OIC wine customer that would make a great interview candidate? (Maybe it’s even you!) Let us know your recommendation by sending an email with the prospective interviewee’s name, their favorite vintners and bottles and why they’d make a great MFB interview! We’re firming-up our shoot list so, don’t delay!
